Intramural Coordinator

General Description

 

An Intramural Coordinator reports to the Vice President (VP) of Intramural position.  An Intramural Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of a defined age group(s).

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Communicate and provide feedback to the VP of Intramural at all times.
  • Prior to the season
    • Monitor the registration software for children in their defined age group.
    • Develop teams as directed by the organization and communicated by the VP of Intramural.  This includes:
      • Develop the team names.
      • Identify coaching needs and available volunteers.
      • Place children on teams.
      • Balance the abilities of the teams when placing children through knowledge and evaluations.
      • Communicate instances where teams could not be developed as directed to the VP of intramural.
      • If necessary, communicate with parents to identify additional coaches or assistant coaches.
    • Communicate with parents to let them know their children are registered and when “Meet the Coach” is.
    • Communicate with coaches to let them know they have been selected as coaches and when and where both the “Coaches” and “Meet the Coach” meetings will be held. 
    • Should attend both “Coaches” and “Meet the Coach” meetings.
    • May be asked to present to coaches/parents at either the “Coaches” or “Meet the Coach” meetings.
    • Evaluating age group curricula and communicating curricula with coaches.
  • During the season
    • Be present and on the field during both practice and game sessions.
      • Where multiple practice times are held, the Intramural Coordinator is expected to be available during one of the practice times and provide good communication to coaches when they will be available.
      • Where multiple game times are held, the intramural Coordinator is expected to be available during a majority of the game times.
    • Ensuring game equipment (goals, flags) is available during games and ensuring it is put away at the end of the last scheduled game.
    • Be available for and respond to questions/issues from parents or coaches. 
    • Evaluate/check in with coaches on a rotating basis such that all coaches are evaluated at least once per season.  Evaluation shall include whether the coach is following the curricula and whether the NYS code of conduct is being upheld.
  • After the season
    • Following up with coaches to obtain feedback.
    • Follow up with coaches to obtain player evaluations at the third and second grade level.
    • Communicating with both coaches and parents to thank them for the season.
    • Communicate to coaches regarding return of equipment.
