Key Laws of Soccer For 6v6 Intramural Games
BALL OUT OF PLAY: When ball wholly crosses a goal line or touch line.
OFFSIDES: There will be NO offsides in 6v6 play.
THROW-IN
- After the ball has crossed the touch line
- Taken by the team which did not touch the ball last
- With both hands from behind the head
- Both feet on the ground at the moment of release
- Both feet touching the line or outside the line
- Player taking the throw cannot play the ball again until another player has touched it
GOAL KICK
- After the ball has passed over the goal line, last touched by the attacking team
- Taken by any player from within six yards of the goal line.
- All opposing players outside the penalty area
- Ball must pass outside the penalty area to be in play, or the kick is retaken
- Player taking the kick cannot play the ball again until another player has touched it
- On goal kicks, or on goalkeeper saves followed by a throw-out, punt, or drop kick, the ball must touch the ground or be touched by any player in the defensive half of the field. Infringement of this rule will result in a turnover of the ball to the other team. Play shall restart with an indirect kick at the midfield line nearest the point of contact.
CORNER KICK
- After the ball has passed over the goal line, last touched by the defending team
- Opposing players must be 10 yards away
- Player taking the kick cannot play the ball again until another player has touched it
- No substitutions on corner kicks
FOULS leading to free kicks:
- TRIPPING OR KICKING an opponent
- JUMPING AT, CHARGING FROM THE REAR, VIOLENT CHARGE, PUSHING, HOLDING, STRIKING opponent
- HANDLING THE BALL (intentional and/or gaining an advantage)
- DANGEROUS PLAY
- OBSTRUCTING AN OPPONENT
- CHARGING THE GOALKEEPER
- INDIRECT KICKS awarded to the attacking team within the penalty area will be with the ball placed at the spot of the infraction, but no closer than six yards from the goal / goal line.
FREE KICK
- Opponent must be 10 yards away
- Player taking the kick cannot play the ball again until another player has touched it
- On an indirect free kick a goal cannot be scored until a second player touches the ball
PENALTY KICKS
- Will be taken from a point eight yards directly in front of the midpoint of the goal. All other players must stand beyond the midfield line.
- Indirect kicks awarded to the attacking team within the penalty area will be placed at the spot of the infraction, but no closer than six yards from the goal / goal line.
DROP BALL
- On injury or other unusual stoppage of play, drop a ball where it was when you blew the whistle
